A teen's voice continues to faintly echo into the night after she jumps to her death when her lover breaks off their relationship. The Travel Channel continues to air its documentary "Haunted Town"' a program dedicated entirely to Atchison's chilling stories. Since 1995, families from across the nation have come to "Haunted Atchison" tours, a one-hour narrated ride aboard the Atchison Trolley or RiverCity Coach to see the haunted sites and hear about the mysteries. All of the haunted activities require advanced reservations except for private home tours. Importance of Being Earnest

Theatre Atchison is bringing a delightful romantic comedy to the stage this spring, Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. Set in 1890s London, the show is full of mistaken identity, misunderstandings and hilarious situations. Using the pseudonym Ernest, Jack Worthing runs off to London to visit his beloved Gwendoline anytime he chooses, leaving behind the obligations of his dull life in the country. His best friend Algernon, has also created a second identity named Ernest, allowing him to sneak to the country to meet Jack’s ward, the beautiful Cecily. All runs smoothly until Jack and Algernon, both masquerading as Ernest, end up with Gwendoline and Cecily at Jack’s country estate. It immediately becomes obvious that there are both too many and too few Ernests to be earnestly courting!

Making special cameo appearances in the show are local Atchison celebrities: on Friday, April 18 is Todd Gigstad; on Saturday, April 19 is Jacque Pregont; on Sunday, April 20 is Bill Murphy; on Friday, April 25 is Rachel Lehcar; on Saturday, April 26 is Kent Wohlgemuth; and on Sunday, April 27 is Russ McCort! Make your reservations today! Performances of The Importance of Being Earnest are Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Tickets for adults are $10, for students $6. Theatre Atchison Season Members are reminded to take advantage of free childcare during the performance on Saturday, April 19 and free beverages during intermission. Please make reservations for childcare in advance. Tickets and childcare may be reserved by calling Theatre Atchison’s box office at (913) 367-SHOW (7469)
